ECU Interim Chancellor to seek permanent chancellor position
East Carolina University’s Interim Chancellor talked long term plans for the school and the city at the Greenville Pitt County Chamber of Commerce power lunch Tuesday.
Dan Gerlach shared his hopes for the future of ECU with chamber members and talked about his vision for the university as its leader.
Gerlach, who has been interim chancellor for the last four months, says ECU plays an important role in building a talent pipeline for the region by growing future educators and leaders.
Also during the luncheon, Gerlach said he is interested in leading ECU as its permanent chancellor.
"Vern Davenport announced by the next board of trustees meeting in November and they are going to identify a search committee probably by the end of the year and we will see what do they want, what characteristics do they want and we will see if I’m a good fit for that or not," said Gerlach.
Gerlach also addressed the current hiring freeze at ECU and said the school is positioned to get back to normal, especially with higher than expected student enrollment this year.
