GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - East Carolina University says glass walls inside the new student center have to be replaced.
The university says problems with the interior glass were discovered before the building opened on Monday and a spokeswoman says a temporary fix was made to make the glass stable and code compliant.
That temporary fix, though, will have to be replaced because the university says it doesn't have the look and design that was originally approved for the $122 million facility.
The interior glass walls should be replaced by March, according to ECU. It involves some 300 pieces of glass.
At this point, ECU says it doesn't expect the university to incur any of the added cost to fix the problem.
There's no word yet on just how much the replacement will cost.
The university says there's no problem with the glass on the outside of the building.
