Duplin County burn ban lifted

DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WITN) A drought stricken county here in the east says has lifted a burn ban that has been in effect since July 3rd.

The Duplin County Fire Marshal says that the ban ended at 8 p.m. Friday.

The county saw several wildfires in late June and into the first few days of July as dry conditions made for easy kindling.

Officials even went so far as to ban the use of fireworks just a day shy of the Independence Day holiday.
