Drought conditions now move into Eastern Carolina

For the first time in years, part of Eastern Carolina is under a drought.

The United State Drought Monitor released new data this morning that shows all or parts of a half dozen counties are under a moderate drought.

Those include all of Onslow & Pamlico counties, and parts of Carteret, Craven, Duplin, & Jones counties.

Moderate is the first of four drought levels, with the worst being an exceptional drought.

The rest of Eastern Carolina remains under abnormally dry conditions.
