Democrat Ike Johnson talks top priorities if elected 3rd District Congressman

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WITN) - Democrat Ike Johnson, running for the District 3 Congressional seat, talked about what he intends to focus on if elected.

Johnson is a former enlisted Marine, and Marine Corps Officer. He says one of his top priorities in Congress would be to improve the service that veterans receive from the U.S.. Department of Veteran Affairs.

He said he will fight for better healthcare, for both service members and civilians.
"We've been advocating health care for a long time and there's still people dying because we have not embraced healthcare the way we should embrace it. That is a fundamental right, in my opinion, for any American to have access to proper healthcare," said Johnson.

Johnson also included farming and protecting the coastline as additional priorities.

The Primary Election for the District 3 seat is April 30, 2019.
