Deadline approaches for moped riders to get insurance
The clock is ticking for moped riders in North Carolina to start carrying insurance.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles is sending nearly 27,000 letters to moped owners reminding them about the new law that will require the vehicles to have liability insurance beginning July 1st.
Failure to provide proof of insurance could result in their license plate being revoked.
Once the state receives insurance information from a moped owner, the owner will be issued a corrected registration card showing the insurance information for the moped.
