NEW BERN, NC (WITN) The Department of Transportation is asking for the public's feedback on a proposed change to a stoplight in New Bern.
The intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Highway 55 could see a roundabout.
The city proposed the changes to the Department of Transportation two years ago because they say there are several issues with the way the current intersection is set up.
Jeff Ruggieri, Director of Development Services says, "It's actually just a project to make the area a lot more efficient and functioning, increase the safety and increase some viability for commercial properties around it. Some of them have a lot of access issues the way the intersection is configured at this point in time and the roundabout will alleviate a lot of that and make it a much more attractive intersection overall."
A meeting is being held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Grover C. Fields Middle School on MLK Blvd.
DOT will have project engineers on site to answer any questions.
