CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man who authorities say tried to jump an airport fence in our area is now sitting behind bars.
The Craven County Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Stephen Nicholas from Havelock jumped the fence at the Coastal Carolina Regional Airport at around 12:35 a.m. on Friday.
Deputies say an airline employee detained him and he was stopped as soon as he got to the secure part of the airport.
The Sheriff's Office also says he assaulted the employee and gave deputies a fake name.
Nicholas is charged with trespassing on airport property, among other charges. There's still no word on why Nicholas was there in the first place.
