NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man is in custody after deputies say they found 12 pounds of marijuana in his car following a high speed chase that involved the sheriff.
Officials say Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone attempted to pull over Malcolm Yates of Raleigh on Thursday morning on I-95 near Gold Rock for a traffic violation.
Investigators say Yates sped away, leading authorities on a high speed chase that reached speeds over 100 mph.
Yates eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without incident.
During a check of his car, deputies say they found 12 pounds of marijuana in his trunk.
Yates has been charged with speeding to elude, trafficking marijuana as well as other drug-related charges.
He is being held at the Nash County Detention Center under a $400,000 bond.
