DEPUTIES: Man blows through checkpoint, leads them on 100 mph chase

PAMLICO COUNTY, NC (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina man is jailed because deputies say he led them on a high speed chase last night after blowing through a checkpoint.

Pamlico County deputies have charged 47-year-old Jermaine Roberson, of Vandemere with felony flee to elude, driving while license revoked, assault of a government official, reckless driving to endanger, injury to personal property, and resisting a public officer.

Deputies were conducting a drivers license checking station on Highway 55 outside of Oriental when around 8:30 p.m. Roberson drove through at a high speed, almost striking one of the deputies, according to a news release.

Deputies began chasing Roberson's vehicle at speeds over 100 miles per hour. The chase went through Oriental and ended when Roberson crashed his vehicle at Janiero and Kershaw roads.

Roberson was jailed on a $50,000 secured bond.
