DEPUTIES: Parents using heroin with three-year-old in vehicle

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Two parents are charged with child abuse after deputies say they found them using drugs in a vehicle with their small child inside.

Ashley Frost, 39, of Atlantic Beach, is charged with felony possession of heroin, two counts possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, three counts possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of child abuse.

Lisa Partington, 38, of Sanford, is charged with felony possession of heroin, two counts possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, three counts possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of child abuse.

Craven County deputies say on Saturday they were called to the Waffle House in James City for a suspicious vehicle. They found Frost and Partington using heroin with the child in the vehicle.

Sheriff Chip Hughes tells WITN that the two are parents of the three-year-old.

The man and the woman were jailed on the charges, while the Department of Social Services was contacted about the child. Hughes says the toddler was released to a grandfather.
