A local cycle club is hosting an event to raise awareness about bicycle safety and to honor cyclists who have died or been injured on the road.
East Carolina Velo Cycling will hold a "Ride of Silence" tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. It is part of the National Ride of Silence. The 10-mile ride is free and open to riders of all ages. Riders will be escorted by police along the ride's route. Helmets and safety lights are required for all riders. There is no registration.
Tonight's ride starts at the parking lot of the uptown Bicycle Post in Greenville and is expected to end around 7:45 p.m. A social gathering will follow at Pit Street Brewery.
