Dare County, N.C. (WITN) - People bundled up in their winter coats strolled and cycled across the Oregon Inlet Saturday along a new replacement bridge.
Crowds got a closer look at the Bonner Bridge replacement before cars hit the roadway later this month.
The NCDOT, along with Dare County, the National Park Service and local community groups hosted the Community Day event to celebrate the new addition to the Outer Banks.
Officials began the celebration with a blessing of the bridge and a wreath-laying ceremony.
The bridge is expected to open to traffic later in February.
