Craven County school raises money for American Heart Association

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Grover C. Fields Middle School in Craven County has raised a record amount of money for one non-profit organization.

The middle school raised 62-hundred dollars for The American Heart Association. Monday they learned the organization is giving something back to them as a thank you for all their efforts.

The school was given a CPR kit, which will allow health educators to teach students the life-saving skills of CPR.

Kristen Riddle with the American Heart Association said, "It's one of the most valuable tools that we can give them, we've seen videos and met different kids who have jumped in and saved you know their grandparents or dad's life or whoever."

The CPR kit that The American Heart Association has given the middle school is one of six to be given to schools in several counties.

Officials say the kids were donated with the help of Smithfield Foods.
Each kit costs about 3-thousand dollars.
