Deputies are investigating a robbery outside of a convenience store.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 8:49 p.m. Wednesday outside Charlies Grill at 5135 County Home Road at the intersection with Worthington Road.

Investigators say an employee of the store was leaving after closing when he was approached by a man in a mask who demanded the bag being carried by the worker.

The thief then took off behind the store into a neighborhood.

Deputies used a K9 to search the area but did not find anyone.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Pitt County Sheriff's Office or Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers.
