UPDATE: Construction worker killed after falling off roof in Beaufort

Police have released more details in the fatal construction accident in Beaufort Monday morning.

Beaufort Police Chief Paul Burdette Jr. says officers responded to a call in reference to a fall at 2401 Lennoxville Road around 7:41 a.m. f

Police say Edward Turner, 42, of Blounts Creek, fell off the roof at the construction site and was transported to Carteret Health Care where he later died from his injuries.

Chief Burdette says the North Carolina Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Division have began an administrative investigation.

We're gathering details on a fatal accident at a construction site in Carteret County.

Beaufort Police Chief Paul Burdette Jr. says a worker has died from his injuries after falling off the roof of a building.

It happened shortly before 8 a.m. Monday morning at 2400 Lennoxville Road at the Dry Dock Boat Storage in Beaufort.

The construction site is located across the street from The Boathouse at Front Street Village; the properties are both owned by Bucky Oliver who says they are devastated by what happened.

Chief Burdette says they are investigating into how the fall happened. We're told the worker had just been lifted up to the roof before he fell.
