Construction underway on new Farmville library

FARMVILLE, NC (WITN) - The old library in Farmville is being demolished and a new library building is underway.

The Farmville Public Library will look completely different once completed, but it will remain on the original property.

The library is expected to be completed by 2021. Right now, the temporary location for the library is on North Main Street while the original library is torn down and the new structure built in its same place.

The library capital campaign is now underway and there are many giving opportunities available to contribute to Farmville's growing library community.

Cheryl Patterson is a library advisory board trustee and said the new library will help put the town of Farmville on the map.

"We will be a destination for folks who want to see what's taking place in library sciences throughout our state,” said Patterson.

The current temporary location of the Library on North Main Street will be relocating to the historic depot building by the end of 2019.
