College application fees waived for students in hurricane-impacted areas

Colleges across the state are waiving their application fees for students in areas hit hardest by Hurricane Florence.

Students in 34 counties will now have until 5 p.m. on Friday, November 16 to fill out their college and financial aid applications for free at participating schools.

In the east, that includes students in Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Greene, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico, Pitt, Wayne and Wilson Counties, among others.

It's part of the state's annual campaign to assist high school seniors with the application process and promote higher education.
