Coast Guard helps release turtles into the Gulf Stream
Members of the Coast Guard here in the east recently got the opportunity to save several lives, and this time--it wasn't the lives of humans they saved.
Crew members of the cutter Cushing from in Atlantic Beach helped release 27 rehabilitated sea turtles into Gulf Stream waters on Saturday.
The sea turtles were rescued by North Carolina aquarium crews after the turtles experienced cold water shock earlier this winter.
Many others came to the rescue with Coast Guard members--including some of the crew member's kids.
