Closing arguments set to begin in Pasquotank Prison murder trial

DARE COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A key piece of evidence was presented this week in the trial of a prison inmate accused of murder two years ago during a prison escape.

Authorities said four corrections officers were killed and eight others injured when four inmates attempted to escape from the Pasquotank Correctional Institute.

Now, a death penalty trial is underway for one of the inmates allegedly involved, Mikal Brady.

Closing arguments are expected next week in the case against Brady, who is accused of murder in the attempted prison break.

The key piece of evidence so far in the trial is a video confession from Brady.

Brady was in the correctional facility for shooting at a state trooper.
He was sentenced to 60 years behind bars for that crime.
