Christmas welcomed with "Greenville Gives" tree lighting, parade & art walk this weekend

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Greenville will welcome the holiday season this weekend with several events.

On Friday, the "Greenville Gives" city tree lighting will take place simultaneously with the First Friday Art Walk.

People are encouraged to bring items to donate to the following non-profits: Food Bank of ENC, Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, Toys for Tots, Emerge, Robbie’s Clubhouse, The Hope Lodge of Greenville, Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County, Humane Society of Eastern NC.

Participating organizations will be collecting blankets (Humane Society), cat/dog toys, paper products (paper towels and toilet paper), dental hygiene items, small bath essentials, non-perishable foods, adult hygiene items, socks and toys for ages 1-12 (Toys for Tots).

Both events from from 5-8pm at Five Points Plaza and across the Uptown area.

There will be live music, a reading of "T'was the Night Before Christmas" and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

On Saturday, the Greenville Jaycees Holly Jolly Christmas parade starts at 5pm in the Uptown area.
