CHERRY POINT, NC (WITN) This weekend on November 11th, the world will pause to remember the end of World War I on the 100th anniversary.
Friday Marines from Air Station Cherry Point held their own ceremony to honor those who fought and those made the ultimate sacrifice in the 'great war.'
A 21 bell salute was given during the anniversary event.
Organizers from Cherry Point say taking time to remember those who fought in World War I is incredibly important especially for those who have followed in those soldiers' footsteps.
Cherry Point isn't the only base holding a memorial service this week. Marine Corps bases around the country held their own 21 bell salute in honor of the end of World War I.
