You should leave your cell phone at home if you're headed to one Eastern Carolina court.

Judge Marvin Blount has ordered that no cell phones be allowed in criminal court in Pitt County starting on Tuesday, September 4.

His ruling applies to all "lawyers, parties, witnesses, support staff and visitors."

The order says that any cell phone that is seen or heard will be subject to confiscation by the court.

The only exception to the ban is for Pitt County sheriff's deputies who are working courtroom security.
