KINSTON, NC (WITN) The BBQ Festival on the Neuse is this weekend in Kinston and businesses are gearing up.
While the festival is expected to bring 40,000 people to town to enjoy the food, music and many other events, all of those extra people can mean added revenue for Kinston businesses.
Salvador Tinoco decided this would be the perfect weekend to open his restaurant Sabor, featuring Latin American cuisine. He says, "It's going to be a great thing because with that comes Cinco de Mayo, so it's going to be a double celebration for us. We expect a lot of patrons."
Laura Lee Sylvester, President of the Kinston-Lenoir Chamber of Commerce, says, "It's really an economic driver. Not only does it bring over 40,000 people into our community, but it allows many of our businesses and organizations to capitalize."
The festival is May 4th and 5th in downtown Kinston.
WITN is a proud sponsor.
