Book drive raises awareness for suicide prevention

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Volunteers are using books as a way to bring healing to those impacted by suicide.

Ubsorne Books & More is collecting donations for books to be distributed at the Out of the Darkness Walk on Saturday, October 19 at 9 am at Cobbs Park in Pinetops.

Sharise Caldwell, an independent consultant with Usborne Books & More, says she hopes the books will provide healing and comfort for anyone impacted by suicide.

The books include topics ranging from fear, depression, anxiety, stress and the loss of a loved one.

You can personally order a book online or make a donation by calling (804) 238-1928.

Caldwell says she plans to distribute books at more festivals in the future, including the Cheese Biscuit Festival in Pinetops.

The walk was originally planned for September, but had to be postponed because of Hurricane Dorian.
