Body of missing New Bern man found in Neuse River

The body of a missing New Bern man has been found in the Neuse River.

Police say Ashley Vest, 38, was reported missing late Wednesday night.

Vest enjoyed canoeing, and his vehicle was found at Flanners Beach, according to police, So far, authorities haven't located the canoe.

A fisherman spotted the body near Flanners Beach around 10:00 a.m. The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and Craven County Emergency Services recovered the man's body.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is handling the investigation.
