Bertie recycling plant catches fire again

A recycling plant in Bertie County that had caught fire again, and had several crews working on it, is now out.

Empire Recycling, formerly Liverman's, caught fire around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sheriff John Holley.

Around ten fire departments and 50 firefighters were fighting the fire.

The business on Highway 11 just outside of Aulander, recycles metal, car seats and other items.

It's unknown what started the fire, but we're told the fire was out and crews had left the scene by early, Thursday morning.

The plant was on fire back in November and December of 2011 and June of 2012.
