BEAUFORT COUNTY, NC (WITN) – A group from Beaufort County is taking the saying “it takes a village” to heart.
This sales tax holiday period allows residents to shop for certain supplies without sales or local option tax. (MGN)
Volunteers who live in the county are coming together to host their fourth annual Back to School Cookout and Supply Giveaway.
“It takes a village to raise a child. All of the churches and all of the members of the community are here to give back to the community, raise our children and make their school year a little bit easier for them,” said volunteer Joe Calhoun.
Every student who shows up to the event will receive a backpack with pencils, art supplies, calculators and other supplies inside.
The event will take place Saturday, August 17 from 12 pm- 3pm at William and Cora Community Park at 17501 Hwy 33 E in Blounts Creek.
