BLACK FRIDAY: Jacksonville Mall back in full swing after Hurricane Florence damage

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Today is one of the busiest shopping days of the year as this Black Friday, the National Retail Federation estimates 165 million people are expected to shop now through cyber Monday.

The Jacksonville Mall is one shopping spot that is already busy today.

People there are likely excited to see the mall back in full swing, after Hurricane Florence caused several stores there to be closed through the holidays last year. One of those was the Belk store which reopened in May.

Younger shoppers are specifically more likely to shop this weekend, according to experts. Eighty-eight percent of those between 18 and 24 say they will go shopping for the social aspect,

According to a national survey, sales are expected to jump this holiday season, by up to four percent from last year.

The national retail group is estimating as much as $730-billion will be spent this November and December.
