PITT COUNTY, NC (WITN) - After dealing with delays due to inclement weather, the Ayden Collard Festival will finally make its way to downtown Ayden this week.
The festival was originally planned for September, but had to be cancelled because of Hurricane Dorian. It will now take place Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9.
Laura Todd with the Ayden Chamber of Commerce says the festival will have the same line-up as what was originally planned. She says the delay might actually work out in festival-goers favor.
"Collards are always better after the first frost," said Todd.
Friday night will be $20 Wristband Night, where festival goers can enjoy rides and vendors starting at 5 p.m.
Arts and crafts and vendors will open at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the parade at 11 a.m. and a collard eating contest at 2 p.m.
It's a Zoo Life will also be on display at the festival, along with live music.
