ROBERSONVILLE, NC (WITN) - There has been a major break in a murder 18 months ago of an Eastern Carolina woman.
Robersonville police say Jarius Matthewson, of Robersonville, has been charged in the death of Zy'keah James.
Matthewson was arrested Wednesday in Kinston, according to Chief Phillip Lee. The chief says the man was in Kinston for his job.
The 23-year-old James was shot back on April 11, 2018 in a home on East Railroad Street. That same night, Matthewson was also found shot in Robersonville and was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center.
Chief Lee says Matthewson's arrest came after they developed new information on the murder.
In addition to first-degree murder, the man is also charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.
Matthewson is being held without bond in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail.
