GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - The City of Greenville says the eastbound lanes of Arlington Boulevard between Hooker Road and Evans Street are open.
Work has now shifted to the westbound lanes, which are will be closed to thru traffic.
Drivers will be directed to the 10th Street Connector or Greenville Boulevard to Memorial Drive as alternate routes.
The city had previously hoped to have the entire project completed before students returned to school.
No updated timeline has been provided for the completion of the work.
The Arlington Boulevard Rehabilitation Project is shifting to westbound lanes by Monday.
Initial paving of the eastbound lanes between Hooker Road and Evans Street is almost complete. Those lanes are expected to reopen to traffic by Monday.
The entire road was supposed to be completed before students return to school.
Greenville Mayor P.J. Connelly says starting September 2nd, the city will start charging the contractor $1,000 a day in liquidated damages until the first phase is complete.
With the Westbound lanes closed, drivers are asked to utilize the 10th Street Connector or Greenville Boulevard to Memorial Drive as alternate routes.
