American Legion hosts job fair in Greenville
Veterans in one eastern Carolina city got a head start on their job search after Governor Cooper proclaimed this Employ a Veteran Week.
Job seekers got the chance for some face time with potential employers at American Legion Post 39 in Greenville.
The first two hours of the job fair sponsored by NC Works were open exclusively to Veterans.
NC Works representatives say Veteran unemployment is low right now, about 3 percent, which is the state average, but Veterans at the job fair say it can be a challenge transitioning to civilian life.
Stephen Dilda, U.S. Air Force Veteran says, "As far as the job search to be honest it's a huge learning curve. Thirty-five-years in the military I didn't have to worry about resumes or anything."
Gabriela Gonzalez with NC Works says, "That's where we come in and provide or connect them with training or other career opportunities that they can do."
The last two hours of the fair were open to anyone looking for work.
Gonzalez says the next NCWorks job fair will be in the spring of 2019.
