Escaped inmate back in custody in Robeson County

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WITN) - An inmate is back in custody after escaping from authorities.

Robeson County deputies say Michael Alvarez, 30, was being held at the Robeson CRV Center for post release supervision violations.

Deputies say he scaled the fence Wednesday afternoon and was caught nearly 10 hours later at a convenience store about five miles away.

He was released from prison in December after serving time for drug charges. He will now face charges for the escape.
