301 Bypass expansion causing road closure
A major Eastern Carolina road will soon see changes to its traffic pattern as a planned road improvement project continues.
The intersection of North Wesleyan Boulevard and Stone Rose Drive in Rocky Mount will be closed for the next year as crews replace nearby bridges over Stoney Creek. The closure is happening as part of the planned Highway 301 Bypass expansion project.
Work will start next month on a wider, single span that will replace the bridges in place. All four lanes of traffic on North Wesleyan Boulevard are expected to remain open while construction happens.
