21 more people die from flu in North Carolina including first child

RALEIGH, NC (WITN) - State health officials say last week was the deadliest so far this flu season with 21 new deaths, including the first child.


The new report says that brings to 98 the number of deaths this flu season.

While most of the deaths have been people 65 years of age or older, the Department of Health and Human Services says a child between 5 and 17 years old also died last week.

During the last flu season, nearly 400 people died.
