GREENVILLE, NC (WITN)- North Carolina Republicans will be descending upon Greenville in just over two years time after the the city was announced Tuesday as the site of the NC GOP Convention.
The three day event is scheduled for May 14-17 at the Greenville Convention Center.
NC GOP officials estimate the convention will host up to 2,000 people from all 100 counties of the state.
The convention will feature all of the party's candidates for statewide office and nominees for U.S. Senator and Governor.
President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will be invited to address the convention.
According to the press release from the NC GOP, Mayor P.J. Connelly worked to bring the convention to the city.
"This is an excellent opportunity to show people all across America what Greenville has to offer," Connelly is quoted in the release as saying, "As we continue to work with a range of employers to bring new jobs to our community, hosting the state convention sends a clear message that Greenville is open for business."
