Officials across Pitt County met during a summit Thursday held at Vidant.

The purpose of the "Thriving Small Town Summit" was to discuss economic development across Pitt County.

Participants at the event included Pitt County officials, the county manager, mayors and county commissioners.

During the event officials talked about things going on in their area, such as the economy and different businesses locating, and opportunities for residents.

Organizers say the summit is a good way for officials to learn information from other successful communities and apply it to where they live.
