Onslow County School year not extended following Dorian

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WITN) Onslow County Schools had relatively little damage from Hurricane Dorian and the impact was minimal compared to Hurricane Florence.

Officials say they will not have to extend their school year due to Dorian.

While three days of school were missed because of Dorian, they will be made up by repurposing two teacher work days, and waving the third day.

The school system is still repairing and replacing roofs damaged by Hurricane Florence. For that reason, they did have to tarp several roofs during Dorian, and experienced minor leaks, but officials say it was nothing major.
