NEW BERN, NC (WITN) Eight schools here in the east will be going head-to-head for a fun competition called the Souper Bowl.
Four high schools and four middle schools in Craven County will put their culinary arts students against each other to see who can come up with the best soup.
This is the second year the county has held the Souper Bowl but the first year the middle school students are getting in on the action.
The winner of Friday night's competition will not only get bragging rights but they will also earn an invitation to take part in a soup fundraiser for a non-profit homeless shelter in February.
The Souper Bowl starts Friday night at 5:30 p.m. at the Harrison Building on Middle Street in downtown New Bern.
