JACKSONVILLE, NC (WITN) - Friday is the 77th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, and members of the military community gathered paying tribute.
A remembrance ceremony was held at the American Legion in Jacksonville Friday morning.
Never Forget, that was the common message at Friday's Pearl Harbor remembrance at the American Legion in Jacksonville.
This year's remembrance reminds people to show appreciation to those who fought in World War II while they're still alive because they say, time is running out.
The American Legion said there are 32 World War II veterans living in Onslow County, but none of them were able to make it out to Friday's ceremony likely because their age makes getting around a challenge.
The anniversary of Pearl Harbor also comes just one day after the funeral of George H.W. Bush, the last American President to serve in World War II.
