Farmville Central High School - Lauren Shackelford

Lauren Shackelford
BIOGRAPHY:

Hello! My name is Lauren Shackelford, and I am a senior at Farmville Central High School in Farmville, North Carolina. I have two brothers and a very goofy dog that I love to spend time with. I live in Farmville now; however, my family moved after my freshman year of high school from Wilmington, North Carolina. While I will always be a beach girl at heart, moving away from my hometown has taught me a lot about accepting change and making the best of an unexpected situation. I will be attending North Carolina State University (NCSU) in the fall. I have been accepted into NCSU’s highly competitive College of Engineering. I am extremely excited to start my higher education as well as make new friends and get involved in club lacrosse there. After graduating from college, I hope to take advantage of NCSU’s tightly knit alumni community across Raleigh and North Carolina to quickly start working towards my future career goals. While I have a lot going on, I am proud to say that I can balance it all with excellent grades, friendships, family, and anything else that comes my way. I look forward to what is coming next!

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOUR CLASSMATES STILL DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU AFTER ALL THIS TIME: My biggest fear is public speaking! Despite having to do it for numerous clubs and school activities, getting up in front of a crowd and speaking into a microphone always makes my teeth chatter.
WHICH YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL WAS YOUR FAVORITE: My senior year has definitely been the best! I have accomplished so much this year, and I have heard so much good news.
IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERTED ISLAND AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE ITEM WITH YOU, WHAT WOULD IT BE?: I would definitely bring my dog! He is a great companion, and we would keep each other company. Plus, he could help me find food or search for shelter!
