Croatan High School - Eli Gerrans

Hi my name is Eli Gerrans. I am part of the graduating class of 2017 from Croatan High School. I have attended Croatan High School for 4 years .I was a captain on our football team this year as well as the basketball captain this year . High school has been a fun roller coaster ride for me. Along the roller coaster ride, I have learned a couple of things. The most important thing I learned is hard work is priceless and that things take time; otherwise you will get overwhelmed and be behind in the classroom and on the field.
The second most important thing I learned in high school, is you must set goals and make plans. You need to do this as much as possible. So you have your eyes set of the prize. For me one of my long-term high school goals was to graduate with at least a 4.0 GPA. I'm proud to say my goal is within sight. I hope I can end my high school career by reaching on my goal. This would mean a lot considering school has always been hard for me; due to a number of things from being dyslexic to having a speech impediment . By setting goals and working hard I have succeed as a student and a high school athlete.

SCHOOL: Croatan High school
NAME: Eli Gerrans
AGE: 17
PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR: I will be attending the university of north Carolina at Wilmington next year.
WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING TASK AS A SENIOR: The most challenging task of senior year was being a leader for me. Whether that meant leading a sports team on Friday nights with all your friends watching you and your parents screaming or taking charge of group project or label where I had no idea what I was doing.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR UNDERCLASSMEN: Give everything you have in the classroom and give as much as you can to your extracurricular activities after that and have some fun.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR: My highlight of senior year was definitely making lifelong memories with friends and every practice and every game I had the privilege to participate in.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS: I see myself in 10 years with a business degree from UNCW and a nice house with a corporate job involving personal relations. In my spare time then I hope I have the privilege to coach a reck basketball team and surf with my friends.
WHO IS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE AND WHY: The most influential person in my life is my dad. He is always cheering me on in every aspect of my life and does everything he can to help me. He is alway teaching me all kinds of lessons too. I hope I can one day be the man he is.
I AM MOST UNIQUE BECAUSE: I am the most unique because I have overcome a lot. I was bullied as a freshman for the way I talked and having other learning disabilities. I was told I would never be a decent athlete in high school by people at the time I was a bench warmer in football and I was cut from the basketball team. Lastly and the most hurtful of all, I was told I would never get into a 4 year university. The 5ft 9ich me that was 180 pounds was bullied and made fun of and called a scrub . I am know the high school senior he dreamed of being as a freshman. I now have a 4.0 GPA and got into my dream college,UNCW, and I am the 6ft 3 inch 210 pound football and basketball captain I dreamed of being. Lastly the people who used to bully me now want to be me . So I have overcame a lot of adversity and that's why I think I am the most quine.
WHAT IS THE ONE QUOTE YOU LIVE BY: “it is better to be nice than to be important”
WHAT ARE 5 THINGS YOU VALUE MOST IMPORTANT AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIFE: The five things I value the most are faith, family, friends, school, and my health.
IF YOU COULD MOVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE AND WHY: If I could move anywhere, I would definitely move to a small town on a nice tropical island. I would move there because I love warm weather and living on the beach plus small town life is the best life for me.
WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOUR CLASSMATES STILL DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU AFTER ALL THIS TIME: My classmates don't know that I started my own business when I was in 8th grade. I invest all the money I make.
WHICH YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL WAS YOUR FAVORITE: My favorite year of high school is definitely senior year. I like senior year the most because I have had my license the whole year and classes have been pretty easy.
IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERTED ISLAND AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE ITEM WITH YOU, WHAT WOULD IT BE?: If I was stranded on a deserted island and could bring only bring one thing I would bring my longboard surfboard. I would bring my surfboard because I would definitely want to surf the whole time since surfing is my favorite hobby and it makes me happy.
