Bertie Early College High School - Cody Leanne Burton

My name is Cody Leanne Burton and I attend Bertie Early College High School. I have always had a huge passion for science and through a biotechnology class offered at my school, I had the chance to expand my knowledge in a field that I love. I love all the opportunities that I have had to travel and expand my knowledge of science. I love presenting my research from my class to others at any given opportunity. I also love science because it allows me to speak a language that most people can not fathom. I love reading and writing short stories and poetry. I love singing at the top of my lungs to the radio when I am driving around. I love spending time with my family and friends, because those times always make the best memories. I love animals and I have three dogs and two cats. I also love taking care of horses as they are my favorite type of animal. In the fall of this year, I will be attending North Carolina State University as a poultry science major with the intentions of pursuing a PhD. I also hope to one day return to Bertie County so that I can give back to the small community that had such a huge impact on my life.

The most influential person in my life would have to be my science teacher Mr. Bruce Boller. Throughout high school he has motivated me to do my best, led me to find my passion in the scientific field, challenged me to think and work outside of the box and has given me all the resources and guidance necessary for paving a bright future for myself.
My determination to achieve success in all aspects of my education. I work extremely hard and strive for A’s in all my classes.
