Courtney Bunting joined the WITN team in February as Evening Anchor.
Courtney was born and raised in southern Illinois but is thrilled to experience the warmth and beauty of East Carolina.
Courtney received a bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV and Digital Media from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and started her career in Rockford, IL. There, she was a Multimedia Journalist and Weekend Anchor for three years. She then moved to Champaign, where she was Lead Reporter and fill-in anchor for two years. After taking a year off from news to work in real estate, she is eager to be back on the news desk. She competed in the pageant circuit in high school and college and grew up playing piano and doing competitive dance. She discovered her love of public speaking after winning an award for a speech about her experience as a McDonald’s Crew Trainer in high school.
When she’s not anchoring, Courtney enjoys caring for her house plants, yoga and spending time with her rescued calico cat Sandy. She also enjoys watching comedy and musicals.
