Sandy Smith wins 1st District GOP primary

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Sandy Smith has won the 1st District GOP primary over Rocky Mount Mayor Sandy Roberson.
Smith ran two years ago in the same race and lost against current Rep. G.K. Butterfield who is retiring this year.
Smith won by just over 2,000 votes and has enough votes to avoid a runoff.
