PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Community leaders came together to honor the first sworn-in female African American Deputy to retire from the Pitt County Sheriffs Office.
Lt. Clemmie German served Pitt County for more than 30 years and was honored during a ceremony in Greenville that included a cut-out of herself.
German tells WITN that she thanks Sheriff Paula Dance and Pitt County residents for allowing her to serve the community.
German will officially retire in January.
