JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A middle school will switch to online instruction Thursday due to a water main break in the area.

Swansboro Middle School is closed, according to a press release from Onslow County Schools. Chief Communications Officer Brent Anderson says they made the decision because they did not have water to support essential functions of the school, including toilets, chillers and food service functions.

ONWASA reported a water main break at the intersection of Leslie Lane and W. Corbett. Officials say much of the town is experiencing lower than normal water pressure until repairs are completed.

All students are expected to have a remote learning day on Sept. 9 and staff are not expected to come to campus unless contacted by their supervisor.
