GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A bicyclist is dead after police say he was struck by a drunk driver in Greenville Tuesday night.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on South Memorial drive near Peed Drive.

Dead is 48-year-old Rufus Lacy.

Police said the Greenville man was heading south on Memorial Drive when he was hit from behind by a car driven by 47-year-old Alexander Dixon, of Snow Hill.

Lacy died at the scene, according to police.

Officers say their investigation continues, and additional charges are possible.

The crash happened about a block north of another deadly bicycle crash last November that involved a hit and run driver.
