Phillip’s Weather Trivia: When does a full moon rise?
There is a certain time of day when a full moon rises.
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The portion of the lunar surface we see is determined by the position of the sun in relation to the location of the moon and earth. A full moon happens when the sun is on one side of the earth and the moon is on the opposite side. See below for Phillip’s Weather Trivia question and answer.
A full moon is in the night sky all night. In fact, whatever percentage of the moon’s disc we see is the same percentage the moon will be in the night sky. For example when you see a crescent moon, it will be only be visible in the night sky a sliver of the night time. A half moon will be in the night sky half the night. The other half will be in the day sky. So, what is your answer? See below to see how you did.
Hopefully, you got it correct. Nonetheless, check out the full moon Thursday evening, June 24th. It rises at 8:49 Thursday evening. It rises a little more than an hour later each time it rises. - Phillip Williams
